Though it wasn't going to be a fancy meal at a restaurant, Jason was still feeling a few nerves as he showered and slipped on a clean uniform, as he got ready to go meet Enisign Parker Gallagher for their first dinner date. Part of his nerves stemmed from the fact that this was the first date he would be going on, since joining Starfleet. The last date he had had, was with his high school girlfriend, Debbie Heiss. It had been a few days before graduation, and it had been a heartbreaker.

While Jason was shipping out to the Academy, Debbie had been accepted into the Ambassadorial Training School, as she had always wanted to follow in her father's footsteps as an ambassador. They two of them had realized that their lives were going to ve taking them to vastly different directions of the galaxy, so they had come to the decision to end their romantic relationship, choosing instead, to remain friends.

As he finished getting dressed, he thought about the last thing that Debbie had said to him as he saw her off at the shuttle depot. "You were the first real love of my life, Jay. Just like I was yours. I know there's a woman out there who will be able to give you a life full of love and happiness. I hope you find her." she then hugged him and turned, boarding her shuttle and flying away, waving to him until he couldn't see her any longer.

Pulling himself out of the memories, Jason gave his appearance one last critique in his mirror, then he left his small cabin and made his way to where he would be meeting Parker. He would arrive outside the door of the Mess Hall about three minutes before their agreed meeting time. There he would wait for her to arrive.

Parker came up a few minutes later, dressed in her uniform but looking harassed. "Sorry I am late," She said as she reached him. "Late running appointment."

He gave her a soft grin as he replied, "That's okay. I'm sure we can still get a good table," he said as a joke, as all five of the tables in the mess hall were identical. He stepped towards the red doors and the hissed apart. "After you," he said with another smile.

Parker gave a small smile and stepped through the door. She was still half in work mode and was trying to reset her mind so she could focus on this. "I hate being late. Its a personal flaw."

Jason grinned softly, as he replied. "I promise that I won't hold it against you." He gave her a playful wink as he finished speaking, then pulled out an empty chair for her at one of the empty tables.
