The desk by the far wall and put a screen in front of it to keep it from view. Then in the centre of the room she had two black leather couches with a low table between them. On the couches were warm throw rugs and a couple of comfy pillows. She had set up a sideboard where she placed a coffee maker and cups.
Her next client was one of the flight control staff. She figured once she had done prelims with all the crew, she could narrow down on the issues and if there were none, then the yearly review would suffice for those who met the no issue requirements. However if they did have issues then they would have to work that out.
At the appointed time of his appointment, Jason pressed the door chime, then waited permission to enter.
Parker opened the door. "Ensign Reece?" she asked with a polite smile.
When Jason saw Parker, he seemed to freeze briefly. He then shook himself. "Forgive me for staring there..." he paused as he tried to find the right words to say in this situation. He decided to just go with honesty as he entered her office. "If I may be so bold, you are the prettiest woman I've ever seen." He blushed from embarrassment at his foolishness. "I'm sorry, I'm sure you hear that a lot." He moved over to the vacant guest chair and sat down in it.
"Mostly from humans. But not from other races" Parker said as she moved to the coffee set up. "Can I get you a coffee?" she asked. She tried very hard to keep herself professional. Being complimented was a different thing for her.
Jason now felt even more like an idiot. He blushed a darker crimson as he sat down. "Yes, please," he replied a bit quieter. "Splash of cream and two sugars, please."
Parker got him his coffee and handed it over to him as she sat opposite him. "So, thank you for making the time to do this review Ensign, I know it's painful, and no one really wants to speak with people in my department,"
Jason took the coffee and took a sip. It was better than when he made it for himself. He was so lost in his appreciation that he missed the first part of her sentence. "I'm so sorry, this coffee is so good, I totally spaced out there for a second!" He gave her a handsome grin, his eyes full of sincere apology. "Please start again?"
Parker smiled and repeated her words. "Thank you for making the time to do this review, Ensign. I know it's painful, and no one really wants to speak with people in my department,"
He shrugged and gave her a handsome, boyish grin. "I dunno, I feel like I could talk to you for hours."
"Charmer aren't you " Parker replied with a smile. She settled back on her couch and watched his face. "So, my role here is to mainly listen to any issues you may have."
He continued to grow softly as he replied with a shrug. "I was raised to be both polite and honest." He then thought for a moment before replying to her statement. "Sounds like a very heavy job. I hope you don't become overwhelmed." He paused again before adding, "I don't think I have any issues to discuss at the moment. Though, should that change. I know who to come talk to." He gave her a playful wink and a lop-sided grin.
"So you are handling the pressures of your role?" She asked curiously. "Flying this vessel and the shuttles are a fairly daunting task."
"Well," he began. "I've only been aboard a few days now, and I haven't really done much yet, but familiarize myself with the systems. However, those tasks that I have had, were fairly straightforward and stress-free."
"First posting as well?" Parker asked curiously.
He nodded. "Yup. Just graduated from the Academy last week."
Parker frowned and studied his face. "Same." She replied. "I guess it's not so strange that we have not met before."
He smiled softly. "Actually, I think I remember seeing you around the Academy grounds. We had an ethics class together during our first year."
"Along with hundreds of others," Parker smiled faintly. "The Academy was a very busy time."
Jason nodded and continued to grin. "Well, that may be true, but I still remember you."
Parker nodded. She had been very focused at the Academy. She had not dated or anything. "So why piloting?" she asked curious.
He thought for a moment, then replied. "I've always been drawn to flying. As a little boy, I would sit for hours, just watching the various shuttle and transports take off and land at the local spaceport. Then, every Federation Day, I'd watch the Starfleet shuttle and starfighter pilots put on air shows. I knew that, one day, I wanted to be just like them." He was smiling as he finished speaking.
It was nice to see such passion in a person, Parker made mental notes. "And your family? How did they take your wanting to join the fleet?"
He gave her a grin as he replied. "They were fine with it. My family has been serving in Starfleet since its inception."
"Ah family tradition, that is a good thing." She smiled.
He nodded happily. "My grandfather and great grandfather were both MACOs. Great Grampy John, actually fought in the Earth-Romulan War. My father is a retired starship captain, and my sister is currently the the Chief Helm Officer for the Republic."
"So Starfleet and flight Control is in your blood," Parker noted. "That's wonderful."
Jason grinned softly, then replied, "Yeah, my family has a long line of service history in both Starfleet and the Federation." He paused, then asked, "What about you and your family?"
"My sister is in the fleet. But its not a tradition. My parents were diplomats before they passed." Parker's tone was neutral. "But I like the fleet."
After hearing that her parents had died, Jason blushed noticeably. "My apologies! I didn't mean to bring up any painful memories."
"There are no painful memories" Parker assured him. "We were not close." Which was an understatement.
"Oh..." Jason could understand that, as his entire family was very close and loving. However, he was conscious of the fact that he shouldn't press. If she wanted him to know, she would tell him.
After a few moments of awkward silence, he finally asked, "What else did you want to know?"
"Do you make time for yourself when off duty?" Parker asked.
He nodded his head as he replied. "Yeah, I do. I try to leave work at work, though sometimes, that's harder to do than other times. When I am able to get some downtime, I like to relax with some free climbing, or orbital skydiving, maybe some surfing."
"So you like the adrenaline those events gives you." Parker smiled as she spoke.
Jason thought about it for a couple beats, then smiled and nodded as he replied. "Yeah, I guess I do. I mean, don't get me wrong, I do enjoy quiet time as well, I just have always been a very energetic person."
She was about to continue when a chime sounded. "Ah, that looks like the end of our session." Parker smiled.
Jason sighed softly. "Already?" He appeared a bit deflated by the news. As they both stood, he decided to go with his gut. I was wondering, if you're not seeing anyone, and you don't already have plans...would you care to join me for some dinner tonight?"
Parker looked at him and considered. "19h00. Main Mess Hall?" She suggested.
Jason's face brightened as he grinned softly. "Sounds great! I'll see you then. Have a great day, Parker." He then headed out into the corridor, looking back and smiling at her again, before the door swished shut between them.
Parker watched him go and then with a small smile she went back to work.
