Mission:
Mission 5: The Price of Paradise
Location: Deck 7: Medical Division
Timeline: M5 MD05 (2268.07.28) 1400
The waiting room in the medical division was fairly empty today, which was a bonus, Toby didn't want to spend the whole day waiting around anyway.
Danny Switalski walked by the waiting area and gave Toby a brief hello and a smirk but kept walking.
Toby was always torn about telling her he wasn't on the market since he enjoyed the attention and preferential treatment. When his name was called he walked over to his assigned exam area and then sat down on the exam table.
It only took a few moments for Jeremiah to appear from his small office off sickbay. He was clad in his standard attire of a short sleeved medical tunic and uniform, and lab coat.
He smiles softly as he approacheds the exam table.
"You're Ensign Toby Dienstag, I presume?"
He asks in his Texan drawl, picking up the data slate from the table next to the exam table.
The young man nodded, "And you must be Dr. McEntyre," he responded, "I definitely haven't made your acquaintance yet."
"Well, I'm glad to make your acquaintance"
Jeremiah reaches a hand out for Toby to shake.
The young man shook the hand or rather paw. He looked a little uneasy, "I must admit doctor, I have never met a Caitian before," he said with a nervous, boyish smile.
Jeremiah smiles.
"I admit to Caitians still being a rare sight within Starfleet, but the numbers are growing by the day it seems. Though to tell you the truth, I'm not much of one anyhow, seeing how I'm Texan."
He chuckles softly, picking up the data slate and going over Toby's chart.
"Yeah, I suppose so," Toby responded, before looking over, "It should say on there, but ever since our last mission I've been dealing with intermittent vertigo. I was manning auxiliary control when an escaped prisoner used a stun grenade to knock us out. I don't know if it knocked something loose or what. I've had some nasty headaches too."
Jeremiah sets down the data slate, after taking notes on what Toby had told him, moving to pick up a medical tricorder and starting to scan him.
"Well, let's see if we can't get to the bottom of this, shall we?"
"That would be a help," Toby responded and then looked around which his usual wide eyed expression and added, "I wss expecting to have Dr. Amato, but I guess it's the luck of the draw."
Jeremiah purrs in thought as he continues his scans.
"I think he's off duty at the moment."
He looked at Toby, "Though I can understand the preference for him, he seems to attract quite a bit of attention from people."
"Oh, does he?" Toby asked inquisitively, "He always seems to be rather bored and standoff-ish most of the time."
“Oh?”
Jeremiah tilts his head as he compiles his scans of Toby.
"Well, he's a doctor, always busy and always doing a dozen things at once," Toby commented, "Eh, I suppose I'm the same being a scientist but I guess I get more easily distracted."
"We can be a quite distractable bunch, Doctors. I know that from what I've seen of Mike, he's got a good head on his shoulders and his eyes on one person, though I haven't really asked much of his personal life, I have gleamed from the nurses that he does have someone in his life whom he loves very much."
Toby gave a slight smirk and nodded, "That he does, doctor," he responded, "That he does." He looked up at the scan which was being reflected on the bio monitor above the exam table and asked, "Anything wrong?"
“Not that I can see. You appear to be quite healthy. Are there any concerns that you wish to address with me regarding anything health related that may be of concern?”
"Ahh... The intermittent vertigo and the headaches," Toby reminded the doctor, "That's why I came in today... Are you sure there's nothing off?"
“Not from these scans as far as I can tell. I’d have to run more detailed tests. I can give you something for the headache though and monitor the vertigo."
"That would be a huge help," Toby responded, "My head definitely hit the console after I was knocked out." He was more than a tad worried now and it was showing on his face. More detailed tests?!
Jeremiah picks up a Hypospray, checking and inserting the right meds into it before pressing it to Toby's arm and injecting it.
"This should help with the headaches until we can do more scans. I'll have to schedule some time where I can get Dr. Kitchner to assist me with getting the proper scanning protocols."
"Alright, well thank you doctor," Toby responded, "I assume someone will let me know when to come back?" He looked at the Caitian doctor assuming the answer would be a yes.
"One of the nurse's should be able to tell you when to come back or I'lll call you myself when I know more."
"Alright, I will check in at the desk then," Toby responded before stepping down from the examination table. He gave a wave to the Caitian doctor before leaving the medical division.
