| General Overview | Warm, friendly, curious and sometimes quite flirtatious Laviana usually never fails to put a smile on the faces of anyone she meets, most of all her patients'. She is a good listener too, and will patiently sit and listen to someone talk for as long as they need her to without complaint. Sometimes work gets the better of her, though, with its regular long shifts, and she can become somewhat grumpy and irritable when very, very tired. |

| Personal History | Laviana was born to only her zhavey and thavan in the underground city of Laibok. Her shreya and charan, as serving members of the Imperial Guard, could not be present as they were on mission. The community she grew up in was smallish but close-knit, much like many rural Earth towns. Tragedy struck when she turned 16, when her transport shuttle pilot zhavey was killed in a tragic shuttle accident. Despite the efforts of a doctor whose clinic happened to be nearby the accident site she could not be saved, leaving poor Laviana to cry over her body when she was taken to the site of the accident. Her thavan was never the same afterward. He became embittered and cynical and never again wanted the hands of a doctor who, despite all their training, couldn't save the life of those he loved, to touch him or any of his family again. Laviana, on the other hand, took away something quite different from the accident. She learned that life was precious and should never be allowed to go to waste as in that accident - which led her to eventually express her desire to become a doctor to her thavan aged eighteen. Still bitter over the incident he disowned her on the spot in fury, declaring that no child of his would ever become a doctor. He gave her an hour to pack, and out she went. "Come home, and it will be the last thing you do." he warned in fury. Left with no further choice, Laviana emigrated to Earth, where she knew she could study medicine without judgment. It was here that she came across a Starfleet recruitment center and fell in love with the idea of being able to explore the galaxy while simultaneously practising medicine, and so aged twenty she applied to Starfleet Academy as one of the very few Andorian cadets in her cohort. She would become well known as one of the hardest working cadets in her cohort, and eventually graduate with honors a doctor at last. The ceremony was attended by her shreya and charan, who'd taken leave to see their daughter's commissioning as an officer. They saw her off at the airlock too, walking through the airlock into the Midway, her first assignment, for the first time. |
