| Personal History | Dave Meddows originally trained as a computational cosmologist, first on Deneva Colony and then later at a higher level at the Daystrom Institute. He was part of the civilian UFP Amberol Black and then the later Amberol Blue Projects to send a manned, but computer controlled, spacecraft up through the top of the rotational Centre of the Galaxy. Meddows was actually part of the crew of the Amberol Blue shot. The Amberol Black shot was never recovered, the Amberol Blue craft was recovered by Tholian junkers in a far distant sector of space; those of the crew not dead were in a state of suspended animation. All were put into induced comas until they could be resuscitated. After his eventual recovery, Dave seemed a changed man. He was no longer ambitious or interested in pushing the boundaries of science or heading his own Science Institute. He took an interest in helping and healing beings who had been through traumatic experiences like himself. He retrained in the relatively new discipline of Space-Psychiatry and became a member of the new and somewhat distrusted breed of Starship Officers - Ship's Psychiatrist. After his dismal failure in this career, he turned his sights on other avenues to help the troubled beings of the Alpha Quadrant. |
